The Shed has setup “tempanent” ShedStyle for temporary and permanent facilities down by the bayou so come Get Fed! The Shed Crew will be walking in the Making Strides against Cancer 5k Walk on October 22nd. We invite you to join us as well as cancer survivors and other supporters. Here are a few facts about breast cancer from the American Cancer Society.
• An estimated 230,480 new cases of invasive breast cancer are expected to be diagnosed in women in the United States in 2011.
• About 2,140 men will get the disease this year, too.
• Breast cancer is the most frequently diagnosed non-skin cancer in women.
• About 39,970 women and men are expected to die from breast cancer this year.
• Breast cancer is the second among cancer deaths in women, after lung cancer.
• The five-year survival rate for breast cancer is 98 percent among individuals whose cancer has not spread beyond the breast at the time of diagnosis.

Its time now for the 2nd Annual Mississippi Songwriters Festival which will be held at different venues in Ocean Springs, on the 16th, 17th, and 18th of September. The festival serves to promote songwriting and highlights the many accomplishments of successful songwriters with Mississippi roots. Venues accommodating the festival on Friday and Saturday are Kwitzky’s Dugout, Mosaic Tapas Bar, and the Julep Room with the finale to be held at The Shed in Ocean Springs. The purpose of Labor Day is to honor the social and economic achievements of American workers. To honor our ShedHeds on the Mississippi Gulf Coast, The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint plans to do just that by giving away our Nationally award winning pulled pork sandwich on Labor Day. This is the same, heavenly BBQ that won the Ultimate Hometown Grill Off on LIVE! Regis and Kelly, and was named the Best BBQ Sandwich in America by National BBQ News Magazine. This has now become Labor Day tradition at The Shed.
Knowing that the last few years have been plagued by economic upheaval, unemployment and the disastrous BP oil spill, and like everyone else having felt the pinch, The Shed has decided to do something about it.
