It’s Obvious that Nashville keeps an eye on What’s Happening at The Shed!
Last Friday a group of well known, Nashville Singer Songwriters graced the new Shed stage that is situated on the bayou. They arrived with items collected from businesses which they auctioned off with all proceeds going to The ShedCrew to help make up for lost hours during the first few weeks after the fire.
This week The Shed was contacted by Nashville’s Trevecca Nazarene University’s award winning TNaz Jazz and Big Band Ensemble offering to play this coming Friday night at 7 O’clock. The twenty-piece band complete with three vocalists will perform traditional big band, blues, jazz, and familiar popular music. Hits from singers like Huey Lewis, Nora Jones, Bill Withers and others will be featured during the evening performance.
In recent years, TNaz has performed in Kentucky, North Carolina, South Carolina and Florida. Most recently the ensemble traveled to Chicago to perform in the Elmhurst College Jazz Festival where two of their members received outstanding musicianship awards.
Prior to the performance The Shed will feed the band and when we found out that these music majors are required to take an entrepreneurial course, we have set aside time to share The Shed’s story and experiences to encourage them to consider starting their own businesses and to take care of the business side of their art. After the concert we have arranged a Meet and Greet for our local Rock U 2 School of Music students to meet the band members to encourage our young Coastal musicians to pursue their passion for music on a college level. All young musicians are invited to attend the Meet and Greet. I believe the entire evening will be magical. ” As always, it’s FREE…Friday March 3oth 7 O’Clock
