The Shed Brings Home TWO 1st Place Trophies!
The Memphis in May World Championship Barbeque Competition awarded The Shed BBQ & Blues Joint, Ocean Springs a first place in the beef division and a first place
in themed booth competition. The Shed was the only participant out of the 380 plus entrants to win two first places in the two day long event.
Lowes Home Improvement Center sponsored the themed booth competition, awarding a check for $2,500.00. "Unless you've been to Memphis in May you can't understand
the competition in the booth division. Each year a different Country is honored, this year was Turkey and each booth is to represent the Country. Corporate sponsors
build up to three story structures and have professional carpenters and painters decorate their booths. Some of them spending Fifteen to Twenty Thousand Dollars.
Our budget is about Six Hundred and our space is only the size of the Rollin' Joint we cook out of. Our entire team participated in a still life scene with a great
amount of humor. The judges seem to have a great time and this is the second year we have brought home the trophy," says Linda Orrison, member of the competition team.
In the beef division, The Shed teamed up with another Mississippi based company to win the first place award and the $1,000 check provided by Cattlemens.
Henry Cooper, owner of Country Pleasin' Meat Packers, Star, Mississippi recently created a marinade called "Grillin and Chillin".
This marinade was slathered on the beef then on to the grill to make the award-winning dish. The marinade will be for sale at The Shed soon.
Country Pleasin' also makes The Shed's 'Serious Sausage' served daily at the Joint.
